Introducing… Tine 2.0
Published on July 16th, 2008 by bjoernI would like to introduce a new project to you: Tine 2.0 - a bleeding edge groupware project that runs in your web browser. Tine 2.0 combines classical groupware functionality with CRM and ERP focussing on ease of use.
We do not directly support this project through OpenUsability, because it has a commercial background. As OpenUsability is about volunteers working for non-commercial OpenSource-Projects, we are not willing to support commercially oriented projects directly with the initiative.
Still Tine 2.0 is a piece of free software published under AGPL v3 - and free software has to be easy to use in order to be successful.
To make this possible we founded the OpenSource Usability Labs as a division of my company Apliki. The OpenSource Usabilty Labs offer commercial usability services for commercially oriented OpenSource projects. We have developed business models that fit the special situation of these projects.
Tine 2.0 is our first showcase and guess what: Tine 2.0 has not yet a real product, but is already finalist as best new project in the 2008 SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards. Do you need more prove about the impact of usability on the success of products?
So go ahead: vote for the best projects in the 2008 SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards and consider Tine 2.0 in the category best new project!
